Evaluation

There are some key conventions of a student magazine such as an image on the front cover that relates to the magazine, a masthead, the price, coverlines and a headline. Content pages often include what will be found inside and on what page and images that relate them.
In my own magazine the image fills most of the front cover and helps attract the student audience's attention. I did not use a headline as there was not a main story inside the magazine instead i chose to use more coverlines to easily show to the audience what is included inside the magazine.
The social group i decided to represent in my magazine is teenage students; i decided to do my magazine on entertainment because teenagers are more often interested in the entertainment/media business as they grew up with it. The images i used included teenagers in them as it helps the student audience relate to them, they also include gadgets that teenagers love and are often never seen without for example a mobile phone, camera and an ipod. The language i decided to use is fun and informal for teenagers to enjoy it; there are more images used than text as teenagers are often represented as not enjoying reading.

Institutions of magazines that are similar to the one i created are the International publishing company and the Bauer media group, both of these companies created magazines such as Q, NME, Kerrang and Mojo, all entertaining music magazines. These companies may be interested in my magazine as it includes a wider range of information on entertainment that will perhaps attract more people. It is also a magazine for both sexes whilst the current magazines they produce are just for men, a magazine that is produced for both sexes will attract a wider audience.

The magazine i created is aimed at students around the age of 13-18, but not to any particular gender. It is for students who enjoy the entertainment business such as music, films and gaming. I included a bright purple background colour to attract the reader's attention and i used pictures of teenagers actually interacting with the gadgets and entertainment that is mentioned in the magazine. Contents within the magazine give information about the entertainment that students enjoy so they can learn things about their favourite past times. There was also an interview with someone famous so particular students who really like the person that is being interviewed in each magazine can buy that particular one. The more famous the person is the more likely students will buy it although it would have to a modern celebrity that the student audience are going to like, and what they are going to want to read.

Different technologies i used was microsoft publisher to create the front cover and contents page, using publisher makes it easy to edit and change how the pages look such as colours, images and text; it is also easy to use. I used a digital camera to create different angles, shots and colours, using a digital camera helps you change the image you want to get across easily.
I briefly used coral to edit the front covers text, however i would like to use the program more to create different effects. Using different editing programmes can help the magazine look more realistic and professional.
